Summers may run hot, but the city has plenty of ways to make the most of the season. Get outside and explore, go underground, splash around, or duck into somewhere cool to beat the heat. There's something here for every age and energy level. Here are 10 of our favorite summer activities in San Antonio for kids and adults.
1. Explore the Trails at Bamberger Nature Park
There's no better time than summer to get out and explore nature. San Antonio has plenty of beautiful areas for outdoor adventures, like Bamberger Nature Park. It has many tree-lined trails to hike or bike, even a playground, for you to enjoy the season without the heat being too much of a problem.
2. Mini Golf (and More) at PopStroke
Looking for a summer activity in San Antonio the whole family is sure to enjoy? Then head on over to PopStroke. With two mini golf courses, additional outdoor gaming, a full restaurant offering drinks and delicious food like all-you-can-eat ribs, plus an ice cream parlor, everyone is sure to leave happy.
3. Play All Day at AR's Entertainment Hub
Find an escape from the summer sun at this action-packed entertainment hub. AR's features dozens of arcade and midway games to play and win prizes. If you want something with a little more movement, there's the retro-style roller rink, urban-themed laser tag, a mixed-reality arena, and two separate indoor mini golf options.
4. Get Underground at Natural Bridge Caverns
Take a journey under the earth's surface at Natural Bridge Caverns. Their cavern tours will have you oohing and awing at marvelous rock formations across multiple chambers. Try the Hidden Wonders tour with an exclusive B.A.T conveyor ride and a sound and light show. Underground not really your thing? They also have ziplining, gem and fossil mining, and much more topside.
5. Go on Safari at Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch
Get ready to unleash your wild side when you visit Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch. You'll be able to spot over 500 animals, including cheetahs, rhinos, and giraffes. They offer both guide-led tours to help you learn about the animals from staff, or self-guided tours in your own car. This is a totally wild summer activity in San Antonio.
6. Climb Things at LiggettVille Adventure Center
The LiggeteVille Adventure Center lets you choose your own adventure at their indoor amusement park. There's the Sky Trail and Sky Rail ropes course that lets you crisscross angled rope ladders, zig-zag across swinging beams, climb up cargo nets, and run across soaring bridges (all strapped into a safety harness and sling line). After that, try the climbing walls, where each one features a different challenge. The Adventure Center also has summer activities in San Antonio for the small tykes, too!
7. Discover the DoSeum
Slow the action down, without slowing down the fun, with a trip to the DoSeum (a museum where "doing" is front and center). Exhibits range from Little Town where kids can role-play in a town scaled to their size, a spy academy where you can enter the world of espionage, and a bubble lab where you can explore how suds work. There's a lot to do at DoSeum.
8. Wander the Japanese Tea Garden
Step into a lush oasis right in the heart of the city at the Japanese Tea Garden. Koi ponds, stone pathways, and towering tropical plants make it feel like a world away from the Texas heat. Admission is free, so pack a picnic, take your time, and let the whole family admire the scenery at their own pace.
9. Soak It All in at Morgan's Wonderland
Morgan's Wonderland is an ultra-accessible theme park designed so that everyone, regardless of ability, can join in on the fun. Rides, splash zones, playgrounds, and live entertainment fill the park with something for every member of the family. The water park next door, Morgan's Inspiration Island, keeps the splashing going all summer long.
